"Technology is the modification of the natural environment in order to satisfy perceived human needs and wants."

즉, " 기술이란 인간의 요구와 필요를 만족시키기 위하여 자연 환경을 변형하는 것이다." 라고 해석할 수 있겠습니다.

지난 2000년에 발간한 책자(Standard for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology)에 정의된 내용입니다.

기술 - 1. 문제를 해결하는 시스템을 개발하기 위한 지식과 과정의 발생을 포함하고, 인간의 능력을 확장시키는 활동에서의 인간 혁신. 2. 알고있는 인간의 요구와 필요을 만족시키기 위하여 자연 환경을 혁신, 변화, 수정(개선)하는 것.
